For years the world has looked in with amusement as America passed laws to stop people wearing certain clothes (you can’t wear jeans low on your waist in parts of Louisiana for instance and even crazier restrictions exist in Utah). In this fair Isle we are all guilty of sniggering at the frequent reports of American cases where drink drivers sue their dinner party hosts for not providing soft drinks and fatties sue burger chains because they “made them” get fat.
