Cookie conundrums?

Ever tried giving your mother a primer on cookies--the Web, not chocolate chip, variety, of course? It's not easy, but a user-generated video contest chiefly bankrolled by Google wants to help.

"do not track" Web list
This three day old story is still doing the rounds. A coalition of privacy groups is calling on the FTC to create a do-not-track list, akin to the do-not-call list, in light of Internet search companies’ purchasing Internet advertising outfits, Reuters reports.

The US can only legislate for so much. They propose that the "do not track" list would require [US]advertisers that place electronic cookies or tags on consumers' computers to register with the [US]FTC all domain names of the servers involved in such activities.

A "COOKIE FREE USA", or would the cookie monster just move overseas.
